Exit Foundation

Rescue and Response

Exit Foundation’s Rescue and Response service is a specialised service for vulnerable and high risk young people up to 25 years of age who are in the care of (or being supported by) the Local Authority.

Our aim is to save the lives of young people who are deemed to be in danger or at serious risk of harm to themselves or others – therefore our service includes an Extraction Team.

If you require our Rescue and Response Service, please get in touch and we’ll respond immediately.

saving lives

The rule of rescue entails the need to save individual lives.

Under common law there is no general duty to come to the rescue of another. Exit Foundation disputes this fact and considers it to be our legal duty to take necessary action to prevent harm to another person or to the general public.

Our service

Exit Foundation Rescue and Response service offers the two main types of rescue support:

  • Entry services: (physically entering dangerous environments)
  • Non-entry services: (operating from a safe distance).

Exit Foundation rescue and response staff are all restraint trained, first aid qualified, MAYBO de-escalation trained, and intervention and prevention mentors. Exit Foundation staff members have over 30 years experience in working within security.

ongoing support

Exit Foundation provides immediate support for any young person who has been rescued.

This includes:

Our Emergency Accommodation Service includes the use of our emergency accommodation home based in Ilford. Young people have access of all the facilities including an ensuite shower, games room and computer games. Support staff are also on hand to support our young people.

Collaborative working

Exit Foundation works collaboratively with:

  • Metropolitan Police
  • Local Authorities
  • Social Services
  • Schools
  • Courts
  • Care homes
  • Probation Services
  • YJS (Youth Justice Services)
  • Mental health professionals
  • All children’s services

We work together to enable us to be able to provide the best support possible.

Our Aim

Our aim is to keep young people safe by creating a safe and supportive environment where the young person is listened to, understood and advocated for.

We work to:

  • Support young people to get out of gangs and criminal activities
  • Intervene and prevent young people from being involved with county lines and exploitation
  • Provide focused and meaningful mentoring support.

With any young person that is rescued, Exit Foundation will be instrumental in developing a multi-agency wrap around support package. This will include a clear plan for future support and development of the young person.

Please see our Mentoring and Employment page (as well as the rest of our website) for full details of the support available.
