Exit Foundation

MENTORING AND EMPLOYMENT

At Exit Foundation, we specialise in delivering a bespoke mentoring programme designed to empower individuals to transition away from criminal activity. By addressing the underlying causes of their challenges, we provide practical pathways into employment, training, or education, fostering sustainable change in attitudes and behaviours.

Our programme is dedicated to offering individuals a genuine second chance to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to society.

If you know someone who could benefit from our support or are interested in making a meaningful impact as a volunteer or mentor, we invite you to connect with us.

Our 16-week bespoke mentoring programme

Our tailored mentoring programme offers comprehensive support through intensive supervision, targeted intervention, preventative strategies, and dedicated mentoring for individuals seeking to escape cycles of violence and criminal activity.

Structured over 16 weeks, the programme is divided into four monthly phases, each carefully customised to address the specific needs of the individual. This personalised approach is designed to promote meaningful growth, personal development, and long-term transformation.

At Exit Foundation, we are committed to helping individuals build a pathway to a safer and more promising future.

WEEK 1 - 4

Comprehensive Assessment and Mentor Matching

The initial phase of the programme focuses on conducting a thorough assessment to ensure each client is paired with a mentor who is well-suited to their needs and goals. During this stage, we gather detailed insights into the client’s background, including their family dynamics, educational history, upbringing, values, and faith.

This foundational phase also serves as an opportunity for clients to set preliminary goals, laying the groundwork for meaningful and lasting change.

WEEK 5 - 8

Understanding the client's social environment

The second phase of the programme centres on an in-depth exploration of the client’s broader social background. This includes examining factors such as their neighbourhood, social circles, affiliations, substance use, income sources, and other influences.

During this stage, we aim to further identify the underlying causes of the client’s challenges while building on the initial goals established in the first phase. This approach ensures a comprehensive strategy for fostering sustainable change.

WEEK 9 - 12

Bridging the present and the future

During the third phase of the programme, we deepen our understanding of the client’s current circumstances while shifting focus toward their future. Collaborating closely with the client, we work to develop long-term goals and create actionable plans to achieve them.

This stage is designed to identify the client’s hopes and aspirations, while fostering their determination and commitment to lasting change.

WEEK 13 - 16

Transitioning to sustainable growth

The final phase of the programme is dedicated to facilitating the client’s transition into meaningful employment, training, or education, tailored to their unique circumstances. Together, we will outline the steps required to achieve these goals, providing hands-on support with applications, CV development, and interview preparation.

Once the client has successfully secured a position or enrolment, the mentoring focus shifts to sustaining this progress, ensuring long-term stability and continued personal growth.

A cornerstone of our mentoring success lies in our commitment to supporting both the individual and their family throughout the programme and beyond. After the completion of the 16-week programme, we continue to provide assistance as needed, recognising the complexities of our clients’ circumstances.

We understand that achieving lasting change often requires sustained support, which often extends to more than a year, to ensure meaningful and enduring results.

60% of our clients have gained and sustained employment after completing our mentoring programme
